Cathay Pacific adds Ningbo and Hangzhou at $811 — plus Qatar Avios expires tomorrow

Cathay Pacific's SFO–China series hit cities 10 and 11 yesterday: Ningbo (NGB) and Hangzhou (HGH) both posted at $811 roundtrip on The Flight Deal. 1 2 On the deadline front: Qatar Avios 50% buy bonus closes tonight (May 25 at 11:59 PM GMT+3), and Chase UR → Flying Blue plus BA Reward Flight fee increases both land on May 27.

SAS also dropped its SFO–Prague fare from $598 to $470 Basic Economy — a $128 reduction reported in the Facebook Flight Deals community — making today a two-headline day for new cash lows.

Cathay Pacific added Ningbo (NGB) and Hangzhou (HGH) to its ongoing China series on May 23 — the 10th and 11th deal posts since the promotion started May 9 (both cities also appeared in the series' first phase at $853, making them returning entries at a lower price). Both routes connect through Hong Kong (HKG) in Q cabin and price out at $811 roundtrip, all taxes included. 1 2

Ningbo (NGB) — a port city and economic hub 150 km south of Shanghai — shows sample dates around September 16–23 (Monday–Thursday travel). Hangzhou (HGH) — capital of Zhejiang Province and home to West Lake — shows sample dates around September 10–17. Both are constrained to Monday–Thursday departures and returns, and travel window runs late August through September 2026.

Q cabin earns approximately 3,800 redeemable Cathay miles but accrues zero miles on American Airlines. If AA AAdvantage mileage accrual matters, book on Alaska Mileage Plan or British Airways Executive Club instead.

The broader CX series now spans 8 confirmed distinct cities across two pricing phases: Phase 1 (May 9–14) ran at $853 and covered Chengdu, Fuzhou, Haikou, Xiamen, Hangzhou, and Ningbo. Phase 2 (May 19–23) dropped to $811 and covers Chengdu/Tianfu, Xi'an, Chongqing, Xiamen, Ningbo, and Hangzhou — with the latter two cities repriced down from their Phase 1 appearances. A booking deadline has not been announced for any city in this series; seat availability at $811 has been narrow throughout.

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) SFO–Prague fell from the $598 Basic Economy listed here on May 23 to $470 Basic Economy / $570 Regular Economy, per reports in the Facebook Flight Deals community. This price has not been independently verified via Google Flights; check ITA Matrix or flysas.com before booking. 3 The original TFD listing from May 22 confirmed the routing: SFO–Copenhagen (CPH)–Prague (PRG), taxes included. 4 Regular Economy at $570 includes one checked bag per segment; Basic Economy (Economy Light) does not. The price drop coincides with SAS's 80th Anniversary Sale, which runs through May 26 (Tuesday) and covers departures from June 16, 2026 through April 30, 2027. 5 The global starting fare is 599 SEK one-way; SFO is part of SAS's North American network and participates in the promotion. SAS also offers a 25% discount on EuroBonus award tickets during the sale period — if you've been sitting on EuroBonus points, now is a reasonable time to compare cash vs. award pricing before the May 26 booking window closes.

The SFO–Milan SAS deal remains visible on TFD at $591 BE / $691 RE but was flagged as extremely limited as of May 22. 4 If you missed it earlier this week, check availability before booking — it may still be there, but seats are sparse.

Qatar Avios (TONIGHT): Purchasing 66,000–250,000 Avios through the Privilege Club portal yields a 50% bonus at an effective cost of 1.53¢ per Avios. 11 BA Balance Boost is cheaper at roughly 1.20¢ per Avios but requires a Avios credit from the past 30 days to activate. If you have a confirmed Qatar Qsuite or partner award in view and need to top off, this is the moment; buying speculatively at 1.53¢ with no redemption target is harder to justify.

Chase UR → Flying Blue + BA fee hike (May 27): These two coincide on Tuesday. For SFO–Paris CDG or SFO–Amsterdam AMS, the 20% transfer bonus means 50,000 Chase UR becomes 60,000 Flying Blue miles — enough for a one-way business class saver on some Air France routes. Flying Blue's May 2026 Promo Rewards (25% discount on select routes) does not include any SFO origin cities for standard members, so the transfer bonus itself is the primary angle for Bay Area travelers. 12 For BA Avios holders: award bookings confirmed before May 27 lock in current cash fees; bookings made after will pay the higher rate. Rove → Aeroplan (new, Jun 6): Rove Miles (earned via Rove's travel booking platform and 13,000+ retail partners) now transfer to Aeroplan at 1:1, with a 25% bonus through June 6. 14 The bonus window extends 5 days past the Aeroplan June 1 devaluation, so transfers completed between June 1–6 will use the new (higher) award chart. The pre-devaluation sweet spot still applies if you transfer and book before May 31.

HeyMax Cash For Miles (May 31 last day): HeyMax (a Singapore-based rewards portal) is sunsetting its Cash For Miles feature on June 1, cutting off mileage redemption for 17 programs including Alaska, American AAdvantage, United MileagePlus, Avianca LifeMiles, and World of Hyatt. 15 If you have HeyMax Max Miles balance and planned to convert to any of those programs, May 31 is your last window. The closure affects the Singapore market primarily; Bay Area travelers who use HeyMax for Hyatt or Alaska miles should move any pending balance before the cutoff.
